Photo: via @mtv.Not everyone can pull off a quirky Karl Lagerfeld creation, but then again, few mortals compare to Lupita Nyong'o, who just showed up on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet in a delightfully insane Chanel dress and Vita Fede jewelry. A mélange of colors, shapes, and piping details, the knee-length cocktail number featured glorious geometric chaos. It's the sort of complicated design that could be accused of wearing its owner, but naturally, Nyong'o, who is already an avant-garde veteran, pulled it off with almost supernatural ease and elegance. Not only does the busy dress look appropriately animated on her, her incredible flattop gives it the gravitas it deserves. Props to the red-carpet warriors who aren't afraid to get loud.
