Our Favorite Matte Lip Stain Just Got More Awesome

Sephora's Cream Lip Stain is the stuff of legend. Well, at least among people who spend their lives on the hunt for lipstick that doesn't transfer and lasts forever. (Yes, I'm talking about myself here.) But, its matte finish and tendency to flake after a few hours isn't for everyone. I don't love that it sheds at the day's end, but to me, the fact that it even makes it 'til quitting time is a miracle.
However, there's a new Sephora lip product that sets the lip-stain bar even higher than its predecessor. Luster Matte Long-Wear Lip Color is luminous where the Cream Lip Stain was flat and hydrating where the other had the tendency to dry. It saturates rather than coats and doesn't ever bleed.

Is it witchcraft? Was it designed by angels? Either way, I don't really care how it works — the point here is that it works. Amazingly. Yes, it's slightly more expensive, but it's still a bargain if you think about how long some $30 lipsticks last (or don't).
Also, it comes in a range of colors that's everything I ever wanted the Cream line to be. Think vibrant orange-based tones, sunny pinks, and pretty, petal-like nudes. (And, I don't even want to tell you how many times I've wished there was an orange-hued Cream Lip Stain, because it's embarrassing.)
As a whole, summer beauty is really going to benefit from the launch of this line. Imagine a hot July morning when you know you're going to sweat off everything you put on your face — except a luminous coral stain. Suddenly, those warmer temps couldn't come soon enough.
Sephora Luster Long-Wear Lip Color, $16, available at Sephora.
