Lupita Nyong’o Is The Queen Of The White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Word to the wise: Don't invite Lupita Nyong'o to your party if you're not cool with being upstaged. This gal just can't help but be the best-dressed (and, um, Most Beautiful) person in the room at all times.

Last night's White House Correspondents' Dinner was no exception. Though First Lady Michelle Obama nailed it in a lovely Marchesa gown, it was the Oscar winner's strapless, polka-dot Oscar de la Renta number that stole the show.
Though her epic braid hat failed to make a return appearance, Nyong'o chicly paired her peplum-waisted gown with a slim black clutch, lilac-lined lids, hot pink lipstick, and a swept-back pixie. And, that, friends, is how you win over Washington.

Fashion aside, the evening's other highlights were the self-effacing quips from President Obama. "In 2008 my slogan was 'yes we can,'" he joked of his popularity. "In 2013 my slogan was 'control + alt + delete.'"
He also made reference to a potential presidential bid from Hillary Clinton. "Let's face it, FOX, you'll miss me when I'm gone," Obama said. "It will be harder to convince the American people that Hillary was born in Kenya."
The commander-in-chief (or his speechwriters, at least) also appears to be a Netflix binge-watcher like the rest of us. Consider this jab at a certain bronzed Speaker of the House: "These days, House Republicans give John Boehner a harder time than they give me. Which means orange really is the new black." Burn.
