Two points make a line, so let's call this a new tradition: Asia Argento goes to Cannes, bucks typical make-nice red-carpet poses, and we praise her unendingly. Last year, the daughter of Dario stepped out in France and gave the paps a piece of her mind with a beautifully graceful bird. This year, she arrived in a Coreterno muscle tee that aptly read, "Social Phobia" and took all her onlookers to the gun show. She flexed and scowled, letting the media revel in her unexpected red-carpet stance, which once again is defiant and powerful.

Asia Argento is one of those actresses who has a certain appeal for older millennials who grew up on alternative beauties like Clea Duvall and Rose McGowan. But, she has an extra edge because she is the daughter of Dario Argento, the godfather of Italian horror films who deserves his own chapter in the pantheon of excellent B movies. So, to see her teaming up with Charlotte Gainsbourg, another actress with a strong reputation and a famous father, for the film Misunderstood is oddly fitting.

Asia has gone to Cannes countless times — it's unclear if her father took her but she arrived on her own in 1993 — so in a sea of supermodels and of-the-moment ingenues, Argento knows the game and seems to be totally uninterested in playing it. Which makes her a stand out. That, and a killer chest tattoo, plus some pretty powerful pythons. Can't wait to see what you do next year, Asia.
