Girls, Disney has heard you.
After a #WeWantLeia Twitter protest decried the lack of Princess Leia toys in the Star Wars section at the Disney Store, the retailer has decided to give the intergalactic princess some love.
“The current assortment of Star Wars products at the Disney Store launched earlier this year, and is just the beginning of what is to come,” Disney spokeswoman Margita Thompson told TIME. “We’re excited to be rolling out new products in the coming months, including several items that will feature Princess Leia, one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars galaxy.”
Just weeks ago, the Disney Store responded to a shopper's Twitter query by tweeting that "there are no plans for Leia products." That sparked a major outcry from moms, Star Wars fans, feminists, and anyone else who knows that Leia is totally the stronger twin.
Of course, there's nothing like a Twitter protest to turn things around. Here's hoping the new female characters in Star Wars: Episode VII get their own action figures, too. (And, yes, you can still buy a Lupita doll if you don't have a kid.) (TIME)
