Vanity Fair likes to fancy itself as a prognosticator of future movie stars. Whether it's the young ingenues who cover the annual Hollywood issue or the fresh-faced upstarts who make the highly regarded "Next Wave" spread each summer, the mag definitely has a handle on the next big thing.
In the past, Graydon Carter's showbiz tome has come under fire for its lack of racial diversity when casting these spreads. Well, it appears the criticism hasn't fallen on deaf ears. Back in February, six African Americans actors and six white actors graced the cover of the 2014 Hollywood issue, and now the magazine is diversifying its list of next-gen stars, too.

Of the 23 future stars selected in their July issue featuring cover girl Shailene Woodley, five were minorities, including Willow and Jaden Smith, Zoe Kravitz, Katie Chang, and Dayo Okeniyi. While the number still represents barely a quarter of the list, it's still an improvement from years past.
Other household-names-to-be who made the list are:
Odeya Rush (The Giver), Bella Thorne (Blended), Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf), Maika Monroe (Labor Day), Will Poulter (We're The Millers), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel), Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto), and Eve Hewson (Enough Said).
