Radio legend, the voice of Scooby-Doo's pal Shaggy, and the go-to host for dance contests at The Max, disc jockey Casey Kasem has passed away at the age of 82.
Kasem's daughter Kerri shared the news of her father's passing on Facebook today. "Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends," she wrote. "Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad."

Kasem, who hosted American Top 40 from 1970 to 2004, had suffered from advanced Parkinson's disease and dementia. His declining health had sparked contentious fighting between his wife, former actress Jean Kasem, and his three children from a previous marriage.
Hopefully, it will be his warm, familiar voice that people remember, and not the bitterness that marred his final moments. We'll always have "The Sprain." (TMZ)
