For months, rumors have circulated about where Chelsea Handler might end up after her contract with E! expires in August. Now, it's confirmed: The talk-show host is headed to Netflix.
It's hardly a surprise. Handler hinted to Paper in March that she might be working with the streaming network, and a report from Page Six in April suggested that the deal was already done.
Netflix announced that Handler will helm a new talk show beginning in early 2016, with "an updated format that still encompasses Chelsea’s unfiltered opinions on topical entertainment and cultural issues," according to the network.
In October of this year, however, Netflix will debut a one-hour stand-up special based on Handler's Uganda Be Kidding Me tour, taping next month in Chicago. In 2015, Handler will host four "docu-comedy specials," focusing on specific topics like NASCAR and Silicon Valley.
"I’m more excited than I’ve been in awhile," said Handler in a press release. Is that a gentle dig at her soon-to-be ex-network?
