MTV VJ Jesse Camp Resurfaces On The Red Carpet

Do you remember when MTV held its Wanna Be a VJ contest? It was 1998, when VJs were VJs. The winner would go on to become the cohost of Total Request Live, Carson Daily's partner, companion, and confidant. Out of the thousands of entries that found their way to Time Square, Jesse Camp was hand-picked by the bright lights and the viewers' votes. And, now he's back.
Well, not back back. But, he did make an appearance at a fundraiser for Free the Nipple, a women's equality movement, in Los Angeles. The now 34-year-old looks a lot older than the wild-haired teenager who played up the fact that he was homeless during the contest only for it to later be revealed that he had a privileged Connecticut upbringing. But, we remember rooting for his erratic on-screen persona. He made us believe anything could happen when he was on the air, and that's what live TV is for.
Since leaving MTV, Jesse's been in a band and held a mishmash of jobs, but has stayed out of the limelight — unless you count an incriminating video that surfaced in 2009. For one night, though, he peeked out of obscurity, and we kind of hope he sticks around.(Uproxx)
