Criticizing Miley Cyrus is lazy man's work. It's easy to see one of her raunchier performances and say, "But, she's so inappropriate!" That's why some were surprised to see The Fault In Our Stars actor Shailene Woodley name drop the controversial performer on a list of celebrities she admires. In an interview with Vanity Fair,
she included Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Laura Dern, Stevie Nicks, and Miley Cyrus among her favorites.
We know what you're thinking: One of these is not like the others. Woodley defends her choice: "Miley isn't rude or mean or cruel to anyone in her actions. She just does herself. She's not in the world doing mean things. Why are all these parents or all these people freaking out about Miley being herself?" It's true that there are greater evils in this world than a young singer who loves to sexualize everything around her. So, when Woodley offers a "who gives a shit?" response to Cyrus' criticism, we imagine she's not alone in that sentiment. And, while Woodley's right that her pixie-cut comrade's performances aren't exactly hurting anyone, we do want to remind Miss Miley that when Monica did that, someone lost a toe. (Marie Claire)
