Kristen Wiig Gets Fully Naked In A Risky Dramatic Role

Kristen Wiig doesn't think being typecast is a bad thing, per se. "You have to have some sort of context for a person to register in your brain, and I was introduced to the world as a cast member of SNL," the actress explained in the August issue of ELLE. Saturday Night Live provided a springboard for the actress to take on more comedic roles and writing opportunities (hello, Bridesmaids and that Oscar nod). Still, Wiig's ready to broaden her acting horizons.
"I’ve always wanted to do dramatic stuff, to write and direct, do a lot of different things. Comedy is where my heart lies, but there’s also something really satisfying about being able to step away with a small crew, become a character and get to know her for a few months at a time," she told ELLE.
Wiig did just that in The Skeleton Twins, a darker film that costars Bill Hader, another former SNL cast member. And, she does it again in Welcome to Me, in which she reunites with Anchorman 2 costars Will Ferrell and James Marsden. The film doesn't have a release date yet, but we do have details about Kristen's unique character, who has borderline personality disorder and stops taking her medication when she wins the lottery. She uses her winnings to start a cable-access talk show about her own life.
"I'd never read a character like that. I got to a scene where it read 'She's fully naked,' and I remember thinking, 'If I do this movie, I have to do this scene, because it's really important to this script." Let it never be said that Kristen Wiig doesn't commit to a role 100%. (ELLE)
