Why Are Women Spending Big Bucks To Remove Their Little Freckles?

People with freckles are always pretty split when it comes to whether or not they actually dig them. While some consider their spots as naturally beautiful as their eyes or lips, others flat-out loathe them — so much so that they pile on makeup to hide them. But, it seems like young girls in Britain are actually taking their distaste for their dots to another level. The Daily Mail is reporting that girls are throwing cash at a new freckle-removing procedure called RevLite.

The treatment is basically laser light therapy. During three to four sessions, a doctor uses a pulsing beam to slowly fade dark spots. But, you're going to have to save up for it — each session costs £175, or roughly $300. Last time we checked, a bottle of foundation was much cheaper...and a lot less permanent.

We're not about plastic surgery shaming, or any shaming for that matter. But, there's something about zapping off your freckles that kinda breaks our heart. Celebrities like Kesha have been spotted proudly displaying their spots, and we had hoped that this might lead to other ladies embracing their skin — no matter what it looks like. Personally, we love the look of freckled skin and think it's something to be celebrated.

That said, some people are seriously bent on disguising their spots, and hey, that's ok, too. But, we'd rather see them reach for a less permanent solution, like foundation or concealer. Because maybe one day, like dear Kesha, you'll have a change of heart and wish you could show those freckles off to the world. Save the spots! (The Daily Mail)
