Kindle Channels Netflix, May Offer Unlimited Books For Bingeing

Sometimes it's more fun to skip out on a TV show until it's available in its entirety on Netflix. That way, you don't have to wait a week — or months — to find out what happens to Walter White next. And, if that kind of binge-watching works for television, it ought to work for books, too, right?
Amazon may just test that theory. According to a cached link that TechCrunch got its hands on, the retail giant is reportedly rolling out a Kindle Unlimited service. The image notes that, for $9.99 per month, Kindle users will have access to an all-you-can-read-buffet with 600,000 titles to choose from. Though, the site notes that missing from the bevy of books available are any from heavy-hitting publishers Simon & Schuster and HarperCollins, and the rest of the "big five" — which are available on Oyster, a start-up that looks like this service's main competitor. Kindle Unlimited, then, may also mimic Netflix in that it won't immediately feature those need-it-now new releases.
And, perhaps that's for the better; we can't even imagine the hermits we would've turned into if this service was available prior to the Hunger Games trilogy. (TechCrunch)
