Leave it to Gwyneth Paltrow to uncover a natural, on-trend beauty treatment that nobody else is hip to yet. The superstar — along with her facialist/perfect-skin ninja, Sonya Dakar — just released a collaboration collection of goop-branded beauty oils. But, this isn't your run-of-the-mill coconut, rosehip, or jojoba oil. Oh, no. The goop oils come from the hoya flower. According to Dakar, she's one of the first to use the flower's super-rare oil in a beauty line.
So, what makes this oil so special? It contains phytosterols and terpenes, organic compounds that are said to help the hoya plant heal and grow. On the skin, Dakar says the oil has a calming and soothing effect, and it's also an anti-inflammatory that can help prevent breakouts.

The new line consists of the Hoya Nourishing Cleanser, Hoya Nourishing Body Oil, Hoya Nourishing Eye Treatment, and Organic Omega Booster with Hoya Flower. All four products are 100% natural and are straight-up oil formulas, which is particularly interesting for the eye treatment. Dakar says she uses it as a pretreatment on the eyes, gently pressing it into the skin and then applying a cream on top. According to her, that allows the eye cream to work more efficiently and makes this area appear more radiant in general. As for the Omega Booster, it's a product that already exists in Dakar's skin-care roster (it was her very first), but it's been "supercharged" here with the addition of the hoya to the signature blend of omega oils.
Dakar, who Paltrow credits as the mastermind behind her glowing, seemingly ageless skin, originally envisioned the products as a limited-edition collaboration with goop. But, once she got her hands on the finished wares, she was convinced that she needed to make them permanent additions to her regular roster. Which is a good thing, because these oils are kind of amazing. They smell divine (naturally — they're all fragrance-free) and leave our skin looking and feeling soft, smooth, dewy, and glowy. Like Gwyneth skin, you might even say. Okay, we won't go that far, but these potions are still pretty damn awesome.
Sonya Dakar Hoya Flower Collection, $65 to $95, available at goop.
