Amazing Vintage Photos Honor The Grandfather Who Took Them

It seems we've forever had a timeline of our digital photos. Facebook's date and location tagging make it impossible to forget even if we wanted to. But, without online archiving and after a lifetime of adventures, even our best memories can slip away. Such is the case with Stephen Clarke, a WWII Air Force navigator and jewelry buyer in Australia. After his family moved him into an assisted living facility to receive the care he needed, they stumbled across a box of mysterious slides from his business trips and family functions over the years. Clarke had many talents, but photographer was not one he claimed.

Well, the photos are good: Surreal views from planes; spirited fishing trips (with plenty of rum); and quiet, urban street scenes are among the 100 slides his grandson placed on a site dedicated to Clarke, appropriately called: Grandpa's Photos. But, while Clarke was delighted to see the lost photos, he had difficulty recalling all the escapades he'd had with his trusty Voigtländer camera.
