"That was the most offensive thing I've seen in 20 years of teaching, and that includes an elementary school production of Hair," will always remain one of our favorite Sue Sylvester lines from Glee. It's a joke that probably flew straight over the heads of most young Gleeks, but we sniveled away at the thought of a bunch of third graders performing the revolutionary '60s musical. Mostly because of the implied nudity. Yes, we're 12.
Still, it's always the first question on everyone's mind when the tribe returns for a Hair revival. Kristen Bell is starring as Sheila in this latest production at the Hollywood Bowl. The Adam Shankman-directed and choreographed production also stars Hunter Parrish, Benjamin Walker, Sarah Hyland, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mario, Beth Behrs, and Amber Riley.

So, um, back to the whole nudity issue. Shankman confirmed that there would be some disrobing. The three leads (Bell, Walker, and Parrish) probably won't be among the flower children baring all, though. It's also not that big a deal. "[The musical] asks more questions than it answers. So hopefully boobs and butts are the least of what people will go away with," Benjamin Walker, whose character Berger mostly wears loincloths anyway, tells the Los Angeles Times.
The nudity is a first for a Hollywood Bowl production, though, so the audience should get ready for a whole new dawning of the Age of Aquarius. Let the sunshine in, everyone. (Los Angeles Times)
