In Hollywood, money doesn't always equal power. At least not according to Forbes.
Last month, the business magazine named Jennifer Lawrence the most powerful actress in Hollywood, on its annual Celebrity 100 list. Today, however, it was Sandra Bullock who came out on top, when Forbes announced the list of the highest-paid actresses.
Since June 2013, Bullock earned an estimated $51 million, thanks to her Oscar-nominated role in Gravity. Alfonso Cuarón's space saga was an absolute juggernaut at the box office, earning $716 million worldwide. Not only did the 50-year-old star get $20 million upfront for her performance, but Bullock also pocketed 15% of the film's first-dollar gross. In other words: $$$$$.

The deal is similar to Robert Downey Jr.'s agreement with Marvel, which helped make him the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.
How do Bullock and Downey's earnings compare?
During the same time span, the Iron Man actor made over $20 million more than his female counterpart, and together, the top 10 highest-paid men earned a staggering $200 million more than the 10 highest-paid women. Among them are Jennifer Lawrence ($34 million), Jennifer Aniston ($31 million), and Angelina Jolie ($18 million).
A woman has yet to top the overall list, but at just 23, Lawrence is the likeliest candidate to break that trend. Hunger Games: Catching Fire was the biggest film of 2013, and its follow-up, Mocking Jay — Part 1, is expected really break the bank when it's released in November. That will give Lawrence roles in two of the highest-grossing films of 2014, after X-Men: Days of Future Past earned over $230 million this summer.
We'll have to wait until next year to see if Lawrence can overtake both Bullock and Downey, but let's just say the odds are ever in her favor. (Forbes)
