You can forgive J.K. Rowling for not announcing an eighth Harry Potter book last week. The beloved author has been busy with some good-hearted letter writing.
Rowling sent a personal letter to 15-year-old Cassidy Stay, the sole survivor of a Texas shooting spree that left her parents and four siblings dead. The teen received national attention when she quoted Hogwarts' headmaster Albus Dumbledore at the family's memorial service, saying, "Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
That quote prompted a Facebook campaign to connect Stay with the author, at which point Rowling got involved. LDS.net reports that her letter to Stay featured "several paragraphs from the point of view of Albus Dumbledore, telling Cassidy what the headmaster would have told her if he could."

Rowling's spokesperson has confirmed the letter is genuine, but said the exact contents are private.
