You'd be hard pressed to find a woman who better embodies the golden age of American cinema. From her unforgettable debut in To Have and Have Not to an impressively long list of films noir, co-starring with Marilyn Monroe, and making rom-com history in Designing Woman, she proved her versatility again and again. Indeed, even her real life, and especially her relationship with Humphrey Bogart, seemed like a movie-star dream. Later in life, she also appeared in The Mirror Has Two Faces (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award), raked in numerous lifetime achievement awards, and even had a cameo on The Sopranos.
RIP to a true great. We'll be putting on some old favorites tonight in your honor.
