Tanya Taylor Says A Huge “No Thanks” To Normcore

Normcore is no more — No matter what Gap wants you to think. The dress-like-your-dad phenomenon that came out of nowhere and found the fashion world clad in vanilla basics and New Balance sneaks was declared dead by Tanya Taylor, the New York designer who was one of this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. And, we couldn't be happier at the jubilant, defiant lack of drab in her spring '15 collection.

Taylor has always had a brilliant way with prints, but this season featured her most knockout ones yet, with the kaleidoscopic, interlocking neon stars that were splashed throughout the collection being the standout. Taylor showed us that you don't have to choose between ladylike and flirty, as her prim sweaters paired with sassy, thigh-high slit skirts and bare-shouldered dresses proved.

There was definitely nothing "norm" about Tanya Taylor's spring '15 collection. To us it feels like a tipping point, where Taylor goes from being an up-and-coming designer to one who has arrived.
