Ansel Elgort is still pretty new to the fame game, but the fledgling movie star has already started guarding his privacy like a pro. We sat down with the 20-year-old actor over the weekend in Toronto, where his new movie, Men, Women & Children had its world premiere on Saturday night.
The film is an indictment of our perennially plugged-in culture, and a study of how our sexuality is increasingly molded by the Internet. So, naturally our conversation eventually turned to the celebrity photo hack that shocked the world last week.
"I deleted my iCloud account right away," Elgort said, when asked how he reacted to the news. "It was terrifying."
While Elgort admitted that he's "not really a selfie guy," last week's news still made him a touch paranoid. "It's scary to think that anything you put on your phone can be shared with the world," the actor added. "I'm very pro-Internet, but there's a big learning curve that comes with it. I think that woke a lot of people up."
For more of our chat with Elgort, check back when Men, Women & Children hits theaters October 17.
