These Are The Gowns You’ll See On The Oscars’ Red Carpet

Everyone loves a gown. Better still if it's a Prabal Gurung piece.
Yes, as we left yesterday's spring '15 show, the lasting image of the floor-length, flowing dresses is what stuck. Don't get us wrong. There were mountain-range jacquard prints, sporty belts worn over cocktail dresses, and feathers that we loved, too. But, we already know that Gurung's bevy of celebrity fans will be wearing the final few looks on the red carpet come award season.
The black-tie appropriate dresses aren't stuffy or overwrought. Instead, the pieces feel obtainable, even easy to pull off — and that's despite the fact that they're both embellished and markedly sheer. One of the final looks was actually a two piece dress in a shimmering white with an athletic crop top and iridescent skirt. Another was a black-and-pink layered number we wouldn't be surprised to find on Kerry Washington this spring.
In all, the structured, bad-ass vibe of the 33 preceding looks served as a subtle contrast to the fanciest trio. The dresses still have a toughness about them despite being light and feminine. And, we love that they were presented with flats. Any time we're given the Gurung green light to go to an award show in sandals and a crop top, that's all good by us.
