Andrew Rannells has been earning praise for his turn in the title role in Broadway play Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which he took over on August 20. But, he's putting the wig back in the box and hanging up his fishnets on October 12. Many people in the theater community (this writer included) have been speculating as to who would assume the role after Rannells, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jared Leto, and Zac Efron all making the dream casting list.
Set your phasers to none (of those people), though. The next actor to don Hedwig's signature jean bustier and gold platforms will be Michael C. Hall. While many fans know him as the title serial killer on Dexter, this won't be Hall's first strut on the Great White Way. He willkommen-ed and bienvenue-ed audiences as the Emcee in Cabaret in 1999. He also trod the boards more recently in a play called The Realistic Joneses.
We can't wait to see Hall as Hedwig, but seriously, Zac Efron's people: Get'cha head in the game and consider it. (New York Daily News)
