Kerry Washington’s Rad Nickname & Where She Got It

Kerry Washington can't seem to escape questions about how she compares to the fictional Olivia Pope. And, when she debuted her new Scandal clothing line this week, the actress was met with even more inquiries about how she is similar to her Thursday-night entity. According to the Washington, to start, their style is really different. "Olivia dresses more professionally than I do. I'm more of a jeans-and-sneakers girl," Washington revealed at the event this past Monday night.
But, there's a third persona in the Washington-Pope identity set. Her name is K-Dub — and she's not messing around. "It's a nickname I got in college, because I went to G-Dubs," she told us, using the term of endearment for George Washington University.
Washington dropped the name in a Twitter response to The New York Times' comment about "angry black women." Don't expect to see her use that moniker too often, though. "I use it occasionally, and in moments like that [tweet] when it's needed," she said. Now, if you'll excuse us, we'll be standing in front of the mirror trying to replicate that double fishtail braid she's got going on.
