Screw up, issue a Twitter apology, head to rehab. Rinse, repeat.
Following his DUI arrest last week — his second — Michael Phelps has announced that he is going to a treatment facility to address his drinking issues. The Olympic swimmer also tweeted an apology to fans, explaining that he will be taking a break from swimming while he gets his life in order.
"The past few days have been extremely difficult," the 29-year-old gold medalist told his 1.6 million Twitter followers.
"I recognize that this is not my first lapse in judgment, and I am extremely disappointed with myself. I'm going to take some time away to attend a program that will provide the help I need to better understand myself.

"Swimming is a major part of my life," he added, "but right now I need to focus my attention on me as an individual and do the necessary work to learn from this experience and make better decisions in the future."
Well, you can't fault Phelps for trying to make things right. We want to see this guy racking up gold medals, not arrests. (People)
