Though other celebrities like Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and Anna Kendrick were targets of the hack, Lawrence inadvertently became the face of what has been dubbed "The Fappening."
Now, for the first time since news broke, Lawrence is speaking out.
“Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory," The Hunger Games actress tells Vanity Fair in the November cover story (out October 14). Lawrence goes on to explain how "disgusting" the whole ordeal has been and how inappropriate the media has been to call it a "scandal."
"It is a sex crime,” she says. Indeed it is. There have been countless numbers of thought pieces written in the wake of the photo hack that explore this very topic. Should these women apologize? No, and Lawrence agrees, telling Vanity Fair that she doesn't "have anything to say I'm sorry for."
Instead, she's the one who gets to the last word in — intentionally delivered topless, at that. (Vanity Fair)
