As Christmas draws closer, the gift-worthy makeup collections start to roll out in full, glorious force. But, for Bobbi Brown — an industry titan known for her elegant takes on natural-chic — isn't it a bit daunting to have to come up with a "new" take on the holidays year after year? "On the contrary," she insists. "One of the coolest things about my job is dreaming up new products and seeing them come to life."
Brown says her latest line reminds her of "sitting by the fire in an oversized leather chair, enjoying a Scotch on the rocks." (This is quite the departure for her: She's actually a tequila OTR type.) "I drew inspiration from the roles played by legendary actress Lauren Bacall in How to Marry a Millionaire, alongside Marilyn Monroe, and The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart. She always looked put-together, but never overdone."
Could there be anyone better than the classically beautiful Kate Upton to recreate Bacall's signature smolder? In the visual, exclusively released here on Refinery29, the brand's current campaign girl glances over her shoulder, with her eyes neatly lined and complemented by a soft hint of shimmer and a very '40s lipstick. "Red lips are classic and an easy way to make a festive statement," Upton says.
But, in case you're wondering, Upton won't be getting makeup for Christmas. (One would think she's got plenty, thanks to the Bobbi gig.) "I'd give her an oversized cashmere wrap because she travels a lot: They're cozy and perfect for long trips," Brown says.
