Rad Or Bad: Shailene Woodley’s Red-Carpet Gym Hair

The beauty world has recently begun a strange, tangled relationship with the athletic headband. Some say it's clever, some claim it's tacky, and some — like Shailene Woodley — turn it into a red-carpet statement. We're not quite sure what to make of the one Shailene sported to a recent event.

Part of us thinks a thick, black elastic band, like hers, is designed for makeup application or removal — or to keep your hair off your face during that spin class your friend dragged you to instead of brunch. We have our own versions stashed away in medicine cabinets or drawers under our sinks, and we'd never consider pulling them out in public — especially for a red-carpet affair.

On the other hand, Shailene's style is pretty slick. It adds a fun accent to her bold pixie cut and keeps the attention on her fresh-faced beauty look, accenting her super long lashes and glowing skin. Plus, it's not like she wore this thing to the Oscars — she was at a screening for her new film, White Bird in a Blizzard, and she used it to accessorize a jumpsuit. Call us crazy, but the pairing doesn't seem all that off.
