Renée Zellweger Responds To Looking Like This

Renée Zellweger was unrecognizable when she attended the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday evening. The Internet was abuzz about how different the actress looked. But, Zellweger doesn't understand why people are shocked or concerned for her. "I'm glad folks think I look different," she told People. "I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," she said.

In general, she finds discussion of her new look "silly." In fact, she's only addressing it because "folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door." Yep, she used the word "folks" twice.

Zellweger said that, despite claims that she looks like she's damaging herself, she's actually better than ever. She told People she wasn't taking care of herself the way she should've been for quite some time. "I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable," she told the magazine. "Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things."

Now that she's taken her schedule down a notch, she's focused on her personal life. "I did work that allows for being still, making a home, loving someone, learning new things, growing as a creative person, and finally growing into myself," she said to People.

According to Zellweger, her friends thinks she appears happy and healthy. And, although she certainly looks different now, she claims it's a totally natural progression. "Perhaps, I look different. Who doesn't as they get older? Ha. But, I am different. I'm happy." (People)
