Of Course Emma Watson Makes “Ugly Shoes” Look Cool

When you think about the ways you can wear those new mules you decided you needed to buy, capri pants and a turtleneck may not be the first outfit that comes to mind. But, it should be!

Just look at Emma Watson, who wore her Tibi mules with an impossibly chic Joseph T-neck sweater and The Row cropped trousers — all separately ambitious pieces that come together in an impossibly cool way. The tailored fit of the pants wouldn't be out of place at the office, but she makes them look as laid back as leggings because of the way she's wearing them (cozy top, flat slides, few accessories), not to mention where she's wearing them (the airport). Even more clever is that her abbreviated hem shows off the shoes, while the subtle check print livens up her neutral basics.

Watson obviously has some magic up her sleeve, but there's no witchcraft involved in making this look work; it's just the result of clever styling that's easy to copy.
