Emma Stone Wows In Her Cabaret Debut

Emma Stone received a big ol' willkommen this week when she made her Broadway debut as Cabaret's Sally Bowles.
The 26-year-old Hollywood starlet has been dreaming of playing the British performer at the show's Kit Kat Klub since a young age. Stone told Vanity Fair: “I’ve wanted to play Sally Bowles since I was 10, when I saw Natasha Richardson in Cabaret." Luckily, all that wishing has paid off. Early reviews of Stone's performance are quite good.
The Guardian noted that her weakest moments do not outshine her big, bold numbers. Words like "she delivers," "bravura," and "heroic" pepper her reviews. You can listen to a few snippets of Stone's vocal performance online. Based on the soundbites, it seems that Stone's delivery is spot-on. The role of Sally Bowles does not require pitch-perfect singing either; she's supposed to be relatively talentless, actually — a trait Stone, herself, clearly does not possess. And, that's something you can definitely tell mama about. (Vulture)
