Tracy Morgan once told a crowd at the New York cultural center, 92nd Street Y, that social media was like giving everyone in the world a street corner. On this street corner, everyone hands out newspapers filled with their complaints about anything and everything. As a result, social media has become a sometimes harsh space. Just look at Jimmy Kimmel's late-night segment "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets."
In the segment, Kimmel records celebs reading a particularly horrible tweet written about them. For Ty Burrell, it's a tweet comparing him to Jon Hamm — if Jon Hamm was a crack addict. For John Stamos, it's an attack on the shape of his belly button. For most A-listers though, these tweets are simply funny. (Probably because part of living your life in the public eye means having an especially thick skin.) Check out Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow, and more read the meanest tweets about themselves that Kimmel and his team could find.
