Scarlett Johansson Opened Up About Her Body Issues

Scarlett Johansson may not have topped Barbara Walters's annual list of the year's most fascinating people, (that "honor" went to Amal Clooney), but after Sunday's special, Johansson's segment is certainly getting the most attention.
At one point during the interview, Walters asked Johansson what she thinks about her famous physique. "It’s an okay body, I guess," Johansson answers. "It functions. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly remarkable, though." Walters continued with the awkward line of questioning when she asked Johansson if there was a specific part of her body that she dislikes. "There’s lots of parts,” a flustered Johansson said. “I don’t like my thighs, my midsection. But I’m not complaining.”
It's unclear why Walters felt the need to focus so much on Johansson's appearance, considering the actress's ultra-eventful year, which saw her get married and become a mother. It's bad enough that women in Hollywood have to deal with intense scrutiny when it comes to their bodies: Johansson shouldn't have had to dissect her own on national television. Had a man been sitting across from Walters, it's unlikely he would have faced such a blatantly objectifying question.
On the other hand, perhaps Walters should have asked one of her male guests that very question — especially George R. R. Martin. Now that would have been fascinating. (E! News)
