While his daughter and Jay Z were hobnobbing with elves in Iceland, Matthew Knowles decided to unload some of Beyoncé's old stuff. Solange's, too. According to several reports, Knowles was selling his daughters' castoff items outside his office in Houston earlier this week.
He didn't put everything Bey and Solange owned in a box to the left, but shoppers were able to scoop up items that included vintage Destiny's Child T-shirts and CDs. Knowles also took the opportunity to sell some office furniture.
The sale sparked rumors that Knowles' company had gone out of business and that the family needed cash. Not true, he insisted. "If I needed money, I wouldn't sell $5 T-shirts," Knowles told a local news station. "I'd sell a Grammy or an MTV award. So that is insulting to think we need to sell $5 T-shirts. No, I don't think so."
The old merchandise was clogging up a building Knowles wants to convert into a new studio, he claimed. Doesn't he know those items are irreplaceable, though?
