Chelsea Handler’s Topless Pic Removed From Instagram, Not Twitter

You don't need to see Chelsea Handler's breasts. It will not change your life if you never witness her rack on display. But, if she wants to show them to her social media following (again), then she should be allowed to do that sans censoring. On Friday, the comedian shared a picture of herself skiing topless. In keeping with its confusing rules about whose nipples can show up on its platform, Instagram removed Handler's picture. But, the image lives on through Twitter.

In a way, this image is the perfect way to close out 2014. It may have been a year of celebrating butts, but the past 12 months have also been a time of discussing what it means when women aren't allowed to show their nipples and men are.

We could discuss how cold Handler probably is during this photo opp. You could also make a series of lackluster jokes about the way nipples function in frigid temperatures. Instead, try appreciating the larger issue Handler's trying to show you here. You know — other than her boobs.
