These Are The 20 Most Pirated Films of 2014

Pirates have very specific tastes. They love buried treasure, Captain Crunch cereal, and, according to a list of the 20 most torrented films of the year, pirates sure are crazy about superheroes, too.
Variety published the revealing list after pulling data from Excipio, a security firm that tracks just this sort of online plunder. Of the 20 films, three superhero movies — X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Thor: The Dark World — landed in the top 10.
The top spot went to Martin Scorsese's no-holds-barred exploration of greed, The Wolf Wall Street — fitting, considering no film has ever made stealing look like so much fun. Runner-up for first place went to Disney's animated phenomenon Frozen, which couldn't be further away thematically from Scorsese's Wolf — indicating that parents adopted a "one for them, one for us" mentality when torrenting films this year.
In fact, the entire list was an odd mix of highbrow and lowbrow fare, with films like Kellan Lutz's little-seen The Legend of Hercules sitting alongside Oscar winners like Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and American Hustle.
And, of course Captain Phillips made the list, because if there's one thing pirates love more than superhero movies, it's movies about, well — pirates!
