Fans around the world were saddened to learn of the recent death of Gilmore Girls star Edward Herrmann. The actor passed away on December 31 following a battle with brain cancer. He was 71.
Herrmann's more recent work included stints on The Good Wife and Grey's Anatomy. However, he's best remembered for his role as beloved Gilmore patriarch Richard, a part that cemented his legacy in television history.
Herrmann starred alongside actresses Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel on the quick-witted show for seven years from 2000-2007. It's a series that's often credited with launching the actresses' careers.
Graham currently stars on the NBC series Parenthood, while Bledel is set to hit theaters this year in the upcoming film Jenny's Wedding. The 33-year-old, who played Herrmann's granddaughter on Gilmore Girls, recently wed Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser.
