Thanks a lot, Macklemore (and Ryan Lewis). Now posting a simple ultrasound photo on Facebook to announce a new baby just looks lazy. The Seattle rapper upped the game on baby announcements on Saturday with a gorgeous video posted on collaborator Ryan Lewis' Youtube page.
For this project, coming in May 2015, his collaborator is actually fiancee Tricia Davis. Beginning with the sound of a heartbeat and Macklemore (born Ben Haggerty) asking, "What is that?" the screen then shows a message from the couple: "Today the media speculated about some big news in our life. So we decided to share it with you ourselves. Love, Ben and Tricia." They're referring to a Page Six article, which reported that Davis was wearing a loose-fitting dress and not drinking at a New Year's Eve party in Las Vegas and therefore must be pregnant. As much as we hate that kind of speculation (heaven forbid a girl wear a loose-fitting dress!), the gossip turned out to be right.

Though his "Same Love" became the anthem of many a gay marriage celebration last year (including a big one at the Grammys), Macklemore has taken his time getting hitched to Davis. They were engaged back in January 2013 after seven years of dating.
Shot by Jason Koenig, who's directed a number of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis videos, the clip goes on to show the expecting parents and three other women watching the technician perform an ultrasound on Davis. It's a touching moment, made more moving and polished by the soundtrack, Youth Lagoon's "17."
Is it all a bit much? (Dabs tissue to eyes.) Maybe. But who are we to take away from the happy parents-to-be?
