You're already familiar with the Girls caricatures. You imagine Shosh with a sock bun, probably wearing a bow-tie blouse. Hannah's in a slightly wrinkled floral dress. Jessa, a kimono. Over the years, it’s become just as easy to pinpoint the IRL Girls girls’ style, specifically when it comes to premiere nights. At yesterday's main event for season 4 at the Museum of Natural History, things were pleasantly par for the course.
Lena Dunham, a chameleon herself who never bothers to play it safe, wore a beautiful shoulder-peeking Creatures of the Wind dress with a playful flash of cool colorblocking. Meanwhile, Allison Williams — a bit more of a classicist — opted for a sleek, feminine Monique Lhuillier number in navy. Zosia Mamet followed suit in a modern minidress — her frock of choice for premiere night ever since season 1 — and Jemima Kirke came with her vintage-inspired, boudoir-glamour style in a black silk, high-slit gown.
Just because we can characterize these actresses’ fashion POVs as easily as we can their alter egos' doesn’t mean their red carpet outfits are expected. It seems like the actresses grow and change every season, refining their style as they go. Ahead, a look at how they wowed us this time.
