The same man who has featured a moody Miley Cyrus, playful Posh Spice, and “sick” Helena Bonham Carter in his fashion campaigns has turned to Kendall Jenner. When the full David Sims-lensed Marc Jacobs spring ’15 ads were released today, the biggest surprise was that the reality-star-turned-Chanel-runway-star was selected to join those esteemed ranks.
Of course, Kendall did walk in Jacobs’ runway show last New York Fashion Week and already has a number of impressive campaigns under her belt, such as Givenchy and Estée Lauder. Chanel’s spring images promise to feature her, too. All that aside, a Marc Jacobs campaign is an accomplishment unto itself.
Jacobs is kind of the curator of cool, buzz-worthy personalities. He got Victoria Beckham to climb inside a paper bag for the aforementioned ad, and last fall's Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign stars were all discovered via social media. This time, instead of featuring Kim K's little sister as a caricature of her family's onscreen success, Jacobs shows her fitting in with fellow MJ models, like Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, and Adriana Lima — a group whose collective experience exceeds Jenner's 19 years of age. In other words, congratulations are in order. This is totally an achievement worth tacking up on the Kardashian fridge.
