Here's your feel good doggie moment of the day.
Dog lovers spanning the globe are using social media to rally around an Arizona teen undergoing treatment for cancer thanks to a Facebook page called "Photo Doggies for Anthony."
Anthony Lyons, a 16-year-old diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last July, took a particular liking to a group of therapy dogs that kept him company during treatments for his illness.
A family friend noticed Anthony's love for the dogs, and decided to use social media to bring even more adorable pups into the teen's life.
She started the "Photo Doggies for Anthony" Facebook group just before Christmas, calling on friends and family to post pics of their pooches for Anthony to enjoy.
The page unexpectedly went viral. Thousands of adorable dogs–ranging from tiny puppies to giant hounds—have been featured on the page.
In addition to the photographs, complete strangers have offered the Lyons family money, gifts and more.
"No one is benefiting other than just their own happiness. And that makes me happy right now," Kristen Lyons, Anthony's mother, told the Associated Press. "This is honestly the best thing that's ever happened to us - ever. It's given us something to do besides lay around and wait for the next `sick' thing to happen."
Anthony, who is being treated at Phoenix Children's Hospital, says he spends a good chunk of his days scrolling through the nearly half a million photos that have been posted.
"If I see your dog, it's appreciated. "I'm still trying to go through all of them. You have to realize, there's so many people posting," Anthony said. "If it's just somebody else having a bad day, go through the page. You can see all these dogs and these hilarious pictures."
