Nicole Richie Makes A Punk Statement With Stripes

When you’re wearing black-and-white sailor stripes, it’s easy — and super-predictable — to play up the preppy look. Nicole Richie, who has never been the kind of girl to shy away from making an offbeat statement, took her nautical-inspired sweater in a much different direction. Yesterday, she was photographed heading to Dubai to celebrate the opening of her House of Harlow pop-up shop in a look that was part ‘60s mod, part ‘90s grunge, and all Nicole.
Richie threw a fuzzy, oversized fur coat atop her Elder Statesmen tunic and sleek leggings — worn as pants, because Nicole’s a rule-breaker like that. She capped the look off with a pair of metal-plated oxfords from Céline’s 2013 pre-fall collection and a chain-link necklace in the same shade of gold. The result was rebellious and elegant, just like the star herself. Of course, when your hair is a hot pink bob, it doesn’t take much to nail the whole pretty-punk thing. Fuchsia blunt cut or not, you can still steal this outfit. Just consider stocking up on Manic Panic first.
