Fashion inspires a lot of pontificating. After all, it's one of those essential things (like food and shelter) that have been a part of nearly every culture since the beginning of, well, culture. Dressing is a daily ritual from which no one is exempt, and dressing up is inextricably intertwined with some of our lives’ biggest milestones. As a result, it's a trillion-dollar industry and the focus of countless media outlets. During last week’s haute couture shows, that was more or less our reaction to nearly every look that made its way down the runway.
