If Katy Perry stuck to her word, she shouldn't be Internet'ing until Friday. In a new interview with the cover girl of Elle's March issue, the "Firework" singer waxes poetic on what one's "supposed" to do after playing the Super Bowl and that is "stay off the Internet for the five days afterward." Perry hasn't, but who can blame her after all the viral moments her performance spawned.
Elle editor-in-chief Robbie Myers promises that this will be one of Perry's "most honest and revealing interviews" to date. Amanda FitzSimon joined the pop star for her Australian leg of the Prismatic tour and managed to get Perry to openly chat her about her faves and the reality of being a pop star.
"It is a hundred times harder a dream than the dream that I dreamt when I was nine...You think you signed up for one thing," Perry reveals, "but you automatically sign up for a hundred others. And that is why you see people shaving their fucking heads." (Yes, she's referring to that head shaving.) She furthers her thought and gets a bit meta: "As pop figures, we're all characters. And the media uses that. Who is the sweetheart, who is the villain? You know. Taylor's the sweetheart. Kanye's the villain. That's the narrative."
Though, Perry is quick to shed some light on those contemporaries that break the mold. She tells Elle about the time Adele stole a post-show burrito from her. "Adele is so real and couldn't care less about the trappings of fame," Perry adds.
As for who's queen? Beyoncé. Perry admits she's a big fan. Stars, man, they're just like us!
