The Most Fashion-y Red Carpet This Year Only Features One Designer

When a major red-carpet event only features one designer, you might not expect to be blown away. After all, isn't a lineup of looks from one designer what fashion shows are for? Turns out, not always, and the varied, showstopping sartorial personalities displayed by the attendees of last night’s Louis Vuitton "Series 2" exhibit opening in L.A. are proof.
Naturally, the guest list for an LV party doesn’t want for celebrated actors (Rosamund Pike, Jennifer Connelly), muses (Catherine Deneuve), It Girls (Alexa Chung, Charlotte Gainsbourg), and the face of the brand, Michelle Williams. And, while they wore designs pulled from the runway and the most recent pre-fall collection, their interpretations of these looks were most impressive, especially considering how safely played other red-carpet events can be. Intrepid mixed-prints combos, Canadian tuxedos, wacky touches of accessories, and full-on retro are typically represented at such to-dos in much smaller amounts, but last night they were the norm.
