In case you've been living under a rock, Justin Bieber's Comedy Central Roast was last night. And as expected, comedians (and Martha Stewart?!) turned out in droves to throw jabs at the troubled young star. Somewhat unexpected, however, was the amount of humility Bieber showed. Really.
After a couple shenanigan-filled years — an arrest, a fight with Orlando Bloom, drag racing — it looks like the pop star really is ready to turn over a new leaf.
After poking a few jabs at himself, (our favorite: "I turned a plane into a bong.") Bieber agreed that his recent shenanigans "turned a lot of people off the past few years."
He went on to say, "I look forward to being someone you’re proud of. ... I’m excited to see what's next. You have my word — I will not end up broken, pathetic, bitter or sitting on someone else's roast. I'm at a moment of change. This is a new day."
We're super on board with this turnaround from Justin. We've been cheering for him as he's become involved in charity (okay, he played ping-pong at a charity event) and apologizing on Facebook for being "arrogant" and "conceited" over the past year and a half. Fame at a young age isn't easy, as we've seen time and time again (Lindsay Lohan comes to mind), and we're always rooting for our celebs to be happy and healthy.
And sometimes, covered in egg.
