Here’s How To Wear Pastels Without Looking Like An Easter Egg, Courtesy of Hilary Duff

Easter may be this Sunday, but that doesn’t mean you should get your style inspo from a Peep. It’s possible — easy, even! — to embrace pastels without taking it too far. For an appearance on Good Morning America this week, Hilary Duff bravely wore pastel hues from head to toe. The result was totally cool and not at all cutesy. So, how’d she do it? 

That mermaid hair goes a long way in adding edge, but you don’t have to dye your strands seafoam to pull this look off. Duff stuck with shades of lavender, wearing a sheer-paneled sweater and ladylike lace skirt from Stella & Jamie’s fall collection. She topped it off with a graphic-print, double-breasted Public School coat, which provided some minimalist sleekness, as well as a nice reprieve from all that color. The former Disney darling finished the outfit with an unexpected pair of strappy, metallic sandals in the same color as her hair.
