Come May, Kim Kardashian’s Selfish will arrive in stores, but she won’t be the first influencer to have a tome of selfies on the market. In perfect synchronicity with the announcement that its 2015 Media Award winner is Instagram, the CFDA has teamed with one of our favorite social media outlets for a coffee table book of its own. And, the selfie skills inside are simply page-turning.
Entitled Designers on Instagram: #Fashion, the latest book from the CFDA explores all the reasons why Instagram is such an important (and, of course, award-winning) tool for fashion folk. “Inside the confines of Fashion Week tents and pavilions, people were denied access to one of the most momentous occasions in the fashion industry,” CFDA president Steven Kolb says in the book’s introduction. “Instagram broke down the barrier between everyday people and the fashion industry.”
Cultural commentary aside, we couldn't help but flip right to the chapter on selfies. It's not every day that we find these distinguished designers posing for, well, themselves, but as the photos prove, they are no slouches when it comes to a bit of self(ie) promotion. Click on for an exclsuive look at some of the self-snapped portraits that will appear inside the pages of the CFDA's latest read — alongside many other beautiful and inspiring square images — available on April 14.
