Why This Tiny Device Is A Huge Win For Personal Style

Fashion collaborations happen just about every day; the most successful ones unify two POVs that otherwise wouldn't even belong in the same sentence. Think Alexander Wang for H&M, Disney and Jimmy Choo, and the latest: Advanced Style x Audicus. Yes, we’re talking hearing aids.
While the sartorially adventurous and agelessly cool women of Advanced Style have served as muses for us, their cohort is arguably underserved by the wearable-tech industry. This product launch shows there are brands recognizing that women in their 70s, 80s, and beyond deserve to be treated like the fashion-conscious consumers they are. "My grandmother was always looking for a more fashionable cane or hearing aid, but options were limited," says Ari Seth Cohen, Advance Style’s creator. "When Audicus approached me about doing a project together, I knew that this was a perfect way to honor her." The four-piece collection boasts hearing aids bedecked in polka dots, pink glitter, leopard print, and a hologram — all prints we’ve seen several mature style stars sporting on the beloved site.
While we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to admire this collab from afar, what we appreciate most about it is how it's opening new avenues of self-expression for anyone who's hearing impaired. "I have never understood why you can buy a pair of stylish glasses, but it's hard to find an attractive hearing aid or walker,” Cohen tells us. “These items enhance the daily lives of so many people. They should be celebrated, beautiful, and bring joy to those who use them.” We agree. Click on to see the small but bold gamechangers.
