You know how you wore that one pair of black skinny jeans all winter long? It’s okay — same here. But, the seasons aren’t the only thing in need of a change. It’s time to swap your denim, too, and these days, light-washed, distressed dungarees couldn’t look cooler.

As you can see from Dakota Johnson’s impeccable outfit yesterday, a slouchy, cropped jean is where it’s at. The look is a little '90s throwback, a little surfer-slacker, but also totally modern. In sticking with the retro vibe, Johnson topped hers with a faded Beach Boys band tee (that’s not technically vintage but might as well be). A periwinkle chain-strap bag added just a little fanciness to the decidedly casual look, while blue suede shoes served as an unexpected statement piece — and, as yet another musical homage.
